Historic District Classic Outdoor Living Design

Project Year: 2014

Design: Bella Dura Architectural Stone

This outdoor Living Area features a pool, two fountains, and a Passageway house.  The Passageway is produced from solid stone blocks with a rusticated edge detail to define the blocks.  The true keyed archways support a framed timber interior with a chandelier.  The roof is raised seam solid copper.  Our beautiful Macedonia limestone is featured on the Passageway house, Tuscan style columns, pool coping and handrails.  Our cross-cut Ostra shell stone is the featured paving that is noted for its exceptional quality of staying cool in the hottest climates and it’s non-slip surface.  The stone drainage grates are water-jet cut in a pattern selected by the clients.  Uxmal Limestone is the backing on the sheer decent fountain and the lower fountain is faced with a split-face Macedonia Limestone.  A combination of the Ostra & Macedonia were combined to provide additional traction on the stair steps to the back porch.

We worked very closely with Bella Dura Architectural Stone. We asked Mary Kay to come up with a design concept for us to begin development of our outdoor living space with pool and fountains overlooking a beautiful landscape extending 300 feet down to the lakes. She had designed some areas for us before that were not developed, so we knew how talented she is. The design that she presented to us was so spectacular and so perfect in reflection of our personal taste that we were amazed. It was a perfect fit. The end result is even more spectacular than her rendering and is the talk of the town. Robert’s extensive knowledge and experience of construction in stone was invaluable throughout the year long development. The fabrication and installation was and is fabulous, and we could not be happier. The pool, the passageway house, the columns, the pool coping, the paving, the stair steps, the wall caps, the drain grates, the elevations, and the fountains are all exquisite and the envy of all we know. This addition to the renovation of our property in this Historic District champion the dedication to sustainable building philosophies and the exquisite use of their limestone of the Yucatan.

The design and stone from Bella Dura/Architectural Creations are more than we ever expected. The stone they used is harvested and imported from Mexico and is very unique with a variety of limestone types that give various colorations and texture to the designs. The stone is millions of years old and provides an old world look with a modern design. It is very cool to the feet on hot summer days unlike slate which we have used in the past. All the work is amazing and our project is beautiful! They went above and beyond over seeing our project in conjunction with the landscape architect and pool builder. I would definitely consider their stone as an option when doing any type of project involving stone.
